Weekly Boffin no. 12

At Boffin we try to keep the newsletter light and attempt to have some fun with it but this week that doesn't feel right. We were all shocked by events in Manchester a few days ago and it remains hard to process the depth of the tragedy. I have never been to Manchester and thankfully I have only ever been mildly inconvenienced by an act of terrorism. As such I can't pretend to have a connection to many of the poor souls involved. It is empathy borne out of simply being a parent that has stirred my emotions this week. I can't imagine what it must be like to lose a young child or one in their twenties, particularly so unexpectedly. It has made me keep my children closer, cuddle them a little bit tighter and be utterly grateful that I am fortunate enough to do so. Whilst it might sound trite to say so, I hope that the message of unity, pride and love that has resonated so strongly from the city of Manchester continues. Hate simply breeds more hate and the only way I can think to deal with this is to be a kinder, better more accepting person.
